Laying out the foundations of a digital community

We were tasked to design an internal communications and announcements platform of the data and analytics arm of a local conglomerate. We borrowed concepts and ideas from 90s internet forums and integrated them with contemporary social networks.

Putting together implicit and explicit engagement patterns

Creating a visual system that serves interaction goals of engagement

Designing a system of nesting for different types of content

Creating clear hierarchies through controlled content dissemination

The platform’s layout was designed to prioritize relevance—guiding different types of users to what matters most to them, without overwhelming them with information. At the core of this was a visual rhythm that emphasized contrast, pacing, and intent. We developed a system of visual cues—color, typography, spatial grouping, and iconography—that helped readers instantly distinguish between urgent updates, ongoing initiatives, and general content.

Rather than treating the interface as a catch-all feed, we introduced structure that supported intentional flows of information. This allowed different teams to share knowledge while still respecting varying levels of visibility, access, and importance. The result was an experience that felt intuitive yet precise—even as the volume of internal content continued to grow.
