Polarized Personas

A portrait series where the subject sits in a lonely digital void — AR reveals scaled disinformation texts that appear and disappear with distance, arguing for empathy and slower consumption.

Empathy through distance

Giclee print on sintra board and augmented reality objects - Edition 1/1, 420x594cm

Exhibited in: SFAD Graduate Exhibition 2023 under the Philippine Women’s University

The Polarized Personas echoes the composition of a portrait series where the subject is at the center of the digital painting and the background is black void with a grid superimposed on top of it which is a metaphor for the lonely digital space that the subject navigates in.

When users scan the QR code, they would be able to see, through augmented reality, a 3D scanned version of the subject surrounded by scaled-up three dimensional texts. When users go near the victim, these disinformation texts disappear but when they increase the distance, the text reappears.
