Still Realities of Objects

The project uses “Still Reality” instead of “Still Life” to communicate a shift — encouraging people to compose uncanny objects within familiar landscapes via smartphone cameras and social posts.

Still reality, not still life

Augmented reality objects, Dimension Varies

Exhibited in: Ephemera under the Philippine Women’s University

The project uses the term “Still Reality” instead of “Still Life” to communicate a shift from how smartphones impede our realities (reality is collective and interpersonal) from how paintings give us a breather from life (life on the other hand is individualistic and intrapersonal).

The Still Reality of Objects encourages people to use their smartphone’s camera feature as a way to compose these objects as ‘still realities’ within their respective immediate locations and post them on social media platforms. The composing process allows for a more mindful utilization of the smartphone while on the other hand on the side of the audience the intrusion of an uncanny object within a familiar landscape allows for scrutiny of the digital photograph.
